LET'S START OF WITH THE BASICS. WHY DON'T YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND TELL EVERYBODY WHERE YOUR FROM.
What's up ya'll my name is Lady Luck comin' straight to you from Jersey, Brick City, Jersey City, Englewood, Teaneck, the whole state reppin' it hard.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE RAP GAME?
I started rappin' when I was 5 years old. My mother wrote my first rap, thank god I don't use it no more cause she did'nt get no publishing. But then um, my family does the hip hop music thing you know Sugar Hill Records that's my aunt and my uncle, big shout out to them and I've been rappin' for ever. I rapped on Hot 97's "Check The Ryhme", years ago, that's how I got a deal with Def Jam (Records). We left Def Jam stopped rappin' now we back rappin', this my mixx tape we got out, check out the website www.major / hustle .com.
LET'S TAKE A STEP BACK, CAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THE HISTORY. YOU WERE THE FIRST FEMALE EMCEE SIGNED TO DEF JAM, RIGHT?
Noooo! First it was Boss, no no no no, Nicky Dee...first was Nicky, then it was Boss, then it was Foxx, then it was me.
ALRIGHT! SO WHAT HAPPEN
WITH THE DEF JA
M DEAL?
It was a big ole mess. You know, they signed me cause I rappin' on the radio and at the time everybody heard this kid on the radio. So I signed with Def Jam cause they made the biggest promises. It's really ain't know beef, it's just was'nt the right siutation at that time, I was fresh out of high school, they were going through the changes of what you see now....those changes were going on way before when I first started. I never had an A&R attached to me, never had a production company, I did'nt have the right managers, so I'm just a young kid who spits with the biggest rappers in the world, spendin' up all they money (referring to advance money from Def Jam), all they money.
SO WHAT'S YOUR LABEL NOW?
Well, right now we got a street company it's called Major Hustle and right now what we doing is establishing our name across the country, to people who know about Lady Luck and people who are just gettin' introduced to Lady Luck. We have a mixx tape, we moved about 18,000, somewhere around that, 18,200 (copies) that we moved over the northeasten region, we're goin' state to state. In the meantime we bout to drop a single, so ya'll can go check the website to hear the single and so what's bout to happen.
IS THERE AN ALBUM COMIN' OUT?
We're workin' o
n
the album but we're goin' to wait to get distribution with that,
so we're going to make the biggest buzz possible, right now, till
we get that big pick up, you know. Once that big pick up come,
then the album will be done already and then all three, four million
of ya'll can run out and cope it.
